Nature’s Divine Hands
Synopsis
In this program, we explored the connections between nature’s patterns and the divine elements that nurture and shape life’s many forms. The centerpiece of our program was the Schubert’s Mass in G, a work that beautifully captured the serenity and uplifting spirit of the season. Schubert’s music mirrored the beauty and wonder of spring's arrival - an expression of divine grace and the promise of new beginnings. The Mass was complimented by a variety of stunning choral works, each invoking the beauty of nature and the miracle of life’s growth. Through music from across the ages, we journeyed through the unfolding of spring, personifying the season itself as a nurturing force - a divine hand that gently guides the blossoming of flowers, the return of warmth, and the renewal of hope. This concert celebrated the vitality and wonder that spring brings to the world. The project culminated in a Spring concert on Saturday, April 25, 2026 in the beautiful sanctuary at St. John’s United Church. The concert featured the OCS choir, a string quartet, and guest soloists. Our project was highly successful and our membership at capacity for the venue. The funding we received OAC enabled us to engage and reach a wide variety of participants of all ages, and under-represented artists in Toronto and the GTA. It also helped towards renting the concert venue and supported job growth in the local arts. The concert ticket prices were maintained at a low rate of $30 for adults and $15 for youth in order to provide maximum accessibility to all income levels.
