About this Event
๐๐ข๐ฎ๐บ๐ข๐ต๐ข๐บ๐ฆ๐ด๐ฉย (Remember) is a multimedia performance piece exploring themes of cultural memory and the impact of dementia on identity.
Cineworksย is proud to presentย a free exhibition of Taryn Plater's multi-media performance piece, ๐๐ข๐ฎ๐บ๐ข๐ต๐ข๐บ๐ฆ๐ด๐ฉย (Remember, 2024).
๐๐ข๐ฎ๐บ๐ข๐ต๐ข๐บ๐ฆ๐ด๐ฉย (Remember) is a multimedia performance piece exploring themes of cultural memory and the impact of dementia on identity. Through an intricate blend of theatre, live art song, and film, it asks the question: what happens when culture is divorced from its place, and what becomes of intangible cultural connection when memory itself begins to fade?
The piece reaches across time to follow two sides of one intergenerational story. While Jane prepares to deliver a heartfelt speech at a family reunion, she experiences fluctuations of her memory, periodically falling back into memories from her youth. Years later, Janeโs granddaughter struggles to find connections to her late baba and to her familyโs culture. As the stories and music weave closer together, maybe voices from a time that is past can be heard and remembered.
