What is Arts Management System (AMS)? How was it made?

Welcome to AMS! 

AMS is an application built in 2009 for the Film and Video Arts Society of Alberta (FAVA). It’s been in development for over a decade now, and we’re extremely excited to share it with you! 

AMS automates standardized processes, provides a centralized source of information relevant to organizations and their activities, and improves internal documentation and accountability.

We hope this application makes the lives of your hardworking staff easier, allowing them to focus their energy on things other than data management and evaluation.

How is the system laid out? 

When you log onto AMS, this is the first screen you will see: we call it the dashboard. 

We refer to the blue bar on the left as the main menu. Each section within the menu (Dashboard, Friends, Projects, Our Stuff etc…) is called a tab. 

If you select one of the tabs with an arrow in its right corner, more selections will drop down. We call each of these subsections

So, ‘Friends’ is the tab, while ‘Search’, ‘Add New’, and ‘Experts’ are its subsections. 

Keep all of this in mind moving forward through the instructions!
